Vinnova invests 26 MSEK in designed materials

Vinnova invests a total of 26 million in 15 Swedish projects designed to commercialize materials and nano materials.

The funded projects range from materials concepts for use in infrared cameras to antibacterial prosthetics and solar cells.

Among the VINNOVA funded projects are:

  • Development of a material concept which gives bioactive and antibacterial amputation prostheses, consortium represented by the Uppsala University Projekt AB
  • Customized multi-functional nano-spheres for use in different biomedical applications - Polymer Factory Sweden AB
  • Nano-fabricated membrane filter for use in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries, Porenix AB
  • Heating/cooling for residences - development of advanced low temperature fuel cells by KTH

The program also finances the Swedish participation in transnational cooperation projects within the MNT ERA-Net Transnational Call 2009. MNT ERA-Net is an EU project to strengthen the competitiveness of European industry through increased coordination of R&D activities in micro and nanotechnology.
