Twice as many applicants at IT University

Posted: July 14, 2010 by Daniel Vámosi Martinussen

The IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) has this year received 104 percent more applications than in 2009. This is due to increases in all directions and the launch of a new bachelor education.

This year, the ITU received 654 applications to the university's Bachelor degrees, which is an increase of 104 percent compared with the 321 applications in the 2009. A great part of the explanation for this should be found in the establishment of the new bachelor education, Global Business Informatics. This is evident after the recount of applications after the deadline, which was July 5.

- It is very positive that we have so many applicants for our Bachelor programs. People are obviously aware that it is exciting to deal with IT. Businesses desperately need skilled IT people and not only in the industries that have IT as a core competence, says program director Kasper Østerby in a press release.

The ITU now has three Bachelor degrees compared to two last year.

The applications for the Bachelor education Software Development has increased 27 percent, while the increase of applications for the Bachelor education Digital Media and Design has gone up 99 percent, compared with the 2009.

Since the third Bachelor education, Global Business Informatics, is brand new it is not possible to record an increase in applicants, but this program has received 121 applicants.

Applicants will be notified of admission on July 30.
